A Stormwater Management and Paddock Stabilization Project
After three years of planning, we completed our integrated stormwater management and paddock stabilization project to fix the problems caused by erosion on the property.
We resurfaced the paddocks to create dry lots like the ones pictured above that now drain optimally and are easier to maintain.
This project represents a major step toward better protecting our beloved Wissahickon Creek from harmful excess nutrients and sediment in the runoff. Stormwater best management practices, such as collection boxes, underground pipes, improved gutter systems, and vegetated buffers divert stormwater from the paddocks and allow for appropriate drainage and absorption before the water reaches the Creek.
We have receiving generous funding and technical support from the Schuylkill River Restoration Fund and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, but we couldn’t have done it without community support.
