Riding Lessons

At Northwestern Stables we teach English riding, with a focus on the hunter style – appropriate movement of the horse, correct positioning of the rider on the flat, and jumping over cross rails and vertical fences up to 3 feet in height.  Besides the basics of horsemanship, the riders also learn responsibility, confidence, self-esteem and compassion.

The majority of our lessons are taught in small groups of up to 6 students. Lessons run weekday evenings in hourly slots from 5pm to 8pm, and on Saturday from 9 am until 2pm. Leadline classes for new students are generally held on Saturdays. We have a work load limit for our horses; therefore, we can only offer a limited number of classes and accept a certain number of riders.

Interested in Group Lessons

Please send an email: execdir “dot” nws “at” gmail “dot” com. Include the age of the perspective student and any horseback riding experience. Due to high demand, you or your child will likely be placed on our waitlist. New riders may expect to wait six months or longer.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons Limited

A limited number of private and semi-private lessons may be arranged with our instructors at their sole discretion. These lessons only occur during weekday mornings and afternoons. Rates for private and semi-private lessons differ from group lessons. To inquire about private or semi-private lessons, contact: northwesternlessons “at” gmail “dot” com.
